How 9Trees CIC fits into Beyond Value Chain Mitigation (BVCM)
Beyond Value Chain Mitigation (BVCM) refers to actions and investments companies undertake to address climate change beyond their direct operations. It includes initiatives that prevent, reduce, or capture greenhouse gas emissions in the wider environment. As the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) explains, “BVCM is crucial for companies looking to accelerate their transition to net-zero emissions and fulfil their climate commitments.”
By partnering with 9Trees CIC, UK companies can contribute directly to BVCM through the creation of diverse, wildlife-rich woodlands across the UK. Our projects are rooted in local communities, improving biodiversity, wellbeing, and nature connection. We do not trade in verified carbon credits or Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units—our trees are planted purely for future generations, on land gifted by altruistic landowners who receive no external funding. They simply want to create woodlands that support wildlife and help maintain a stable, temperate climate.
When companies sponsor trees with us, they are not only helping to sequester carbon—they are investing in healthier landscapes, stronger ecosystems, and the wellbeing of local people.
