9Trees CIC is seeking a Landowner Liaison Officer to help identify and develop new woodland creation projects across the UK.

About the role

This role focuses on building relationships with landowners and farmers interested in creating new native woodlands. You will be involved in the early stages of project development, from identifying potential land to assessing sites and coordinating next steps with the wider team.

The role combines communication, ecology and land-based project coordination. Responsibilities include:

  • Reaching out to prospective landowners and farmers to introduce the 9Trees model

  • Maintaining communications with landowners and project partners

  • Conducting site visits to assess potential woodland creation opportunities

  • Carrying out initial ecological observations and surveys

  • Completing desk-based surveys, mapping and site assessments

  • Coordinating projects with our Contracts and Landowner Manager and the wider team

  • Helping identify sites that deliver strong biodiversity and habitat corridor benefits

About 9Trees

9Trees is a not-for-profit organisation creating professionally managed broadleaf woodlands for wildlife and people. Rather than selling carbon credits, we focus on creating long-term carbon stores through carefully planned woodland creation.

By planting the right trees in the right places, we promote biodiversity, improve habitat connectivity and help restore the UK’s natural landscape. Income from subscriptions is reinvested into woodland creation, training, education and long-term management of our sites.

Our supporters can visit woodlands across the UK as they grow, while regular newsletters keep them updated on the progress of each woodland.

9Trees also supports rural jobs, countryside skills and community engagement, bringing volunteers, landowners and local partners together to create woodlands that benefit people and wildlife.

Working Environment

We offer a flexible and supportive working environment. Team members manage their own schedules and we value collaboration while recognising that some tasks are best done independently.

Ideal skills and qualities

  • Self-motivated and organised

  • Honest, reliable and collaborative

  • Interest in conservation, ecology or land management

  • Experience working with landowners or conducting desk-based surveys is helpful but not essential
