University Representatives and Ambassadors Volunteers

9Trees is a not-for-profit organisation, with income being reinvested into training, education and management of the woodlands created through both personal and business subscriptions. Our philosophy is simple, to plant 9 trees, per person, per year, using only native species in appropriate locations. By planting the right trees in the right place, 9Trees also promotes biodiversity and enhances habitat corridors. Each tree is geolocated, keeping subscribers up to date with their progress until maturity.  Over the years subscribers will have many woodlands they can visit throughout the UK. 9Trees also promotes jobs and skills within the local countryside and woodland sector by bringing communities together to create woodlands that benefit people and wildlife. 9Trees are for nature, wellbeing, rural jobs and working to balance the UK's carbon footprint.

Role Overview

To be an advocate for 9Trees is simple. It can be done in any area throughout the UK, starting with your local area, chatting with organisations, your university and your fellow students, as well as the business sector, community groups or local schools (if comfortable).  To ensure our partnerships and newsletters reach far and wide, we ask that you promote our logo, champion our cause and maximize the company’s presence on campus, as well as to increase the number of students/businesses aware of our company and the opportunities we offer them.  The exact nature of your role and activities will be determined in initial meetings with 9Trees team members. As a young community interest company we are looking to establish our name and reputation for the unique way in which we work with landowners, attract students and other interested parties to work with, volunteer or support us, as well as increase subscriptions and support from individuals and businesses in your local area.

As an ambassador and representative you will help promote and attract students/businesses to get involved with 9Trees, either by becoming part of the team and taking on roles varying from social media management to fundraising and grant writing. Where applicable you will help promote opportunities for students to get involved in eco-matting days and planting activities (involving planting the saplings, covering the area around them with mulch to suppress weed growth etc). Representatives that are not near one of our sites can help in this area by spreading the 9Trees message, leading to new planting sites in the future across the UK. Representatives may also at times need to liaise with on-site coordinators and volunteer administrators.

To do this, we need enthusiastic student representatives to promote 9Trees, our work and our mission, to create the connections we need to not only grow as a company, but to create rural jobs and achieve our goals to help tackle the climate crisis. Long term possibilities are for student representatives to eventually take on paid positions within the company if interested.
